Nestled in the suburban area of Madurai, the Venkat Residence boasts a thoughtful design that harnesses the power of natural light and ventilation. Situated on a 42ft x 50ft site with its shorter side facing north, the house cleverly utilizes north light, a soft and radiation free illumination, through a first-floor balcony. The balcony’s terracotta jalli walls, adorned with intricate patterns, filter the light while allowing for a gentle breeze and visual connection to the street.
The client’s vision was to create a legacy that would transcend generations, a home that would be more than just a living space or a status symbol. With this in mind, the architectural narrative was crafted to shape the building’s internal and external spaces. A central opening above the pooja room brings in light and harmony, fostering positive vibrations throughout the house.
The design features intentional elements that enhance the living experience, including a cozy bay window in the bedroom for relaxation and a projecting ots above the balcony that filters in soft, articulated light, ideal for a soothing swing. Every aspect of the design has been meticulously considered to craft a serene and welcoming atmosphere, making the Venkat Residence a true haven.
