Design Approach:
“The structure that emerged from this design approach is marked by its clean lines, solid construction, and a sense of openness and lightness.”
Spatial planning:
Oriented east-west, the building’s design takes full advantage of natural light, with its longer sides facing north and south. This linear layout allows for a seamless progression from the beach-side entrance on the south to the kitchen, creating a sense of fluidity and connection. The entrance foyer is marked by a striking, cantilevered slab, crafting an intimate and inviting atmosphere. As you move through the space, the waiting lounge gives way to a spacious living area, where a double-height ceiling and strategically placed rooftop openings bring in a flood of natural light. A sleek staircase on the west side of the hall leads to the upper floor, home to a kids’ bedroom and indoor theater. Throughout, carefully positioned skylights weave together the upper and ground floors, bathing the space in soft, diffused light and elevating the overall experience.”
Entrance
The entrance boasts a warm and inviting atmosphere, perfect for making a lasting first impression. Large, imposing doors swing open to reveal a spacious foyer area, elegantly designed for relaxation and comfort. A beautifully crafted shoe rack, blending functionality with aesthetic appeal, provides ample storage for footwear. The thoughtfully designed seating area invites guests to linger, relax, and unwind, setting the tone for a pleasant experience within
THE GAZEBO:
The gazebo’s innovative design combines functionality and breathtaking views. The roof slab features strategically placed punctures, allowing natural light to filter in and create a warm ambiance. Below, comfortable seating areas are shaded by a solid ceiling, providing respite from the sun. The gazebo’s partial vertical opening, framing stunning sea-side vistas and inviting the ocean breeze to gently sweep through.
Sustainability:
“Sustainability was a top priority in the design process. To minimize environmental impact, the building was carefully oriented along an east-west axis, optimizing natural light and ventilation. This strategic alignment reduces the need for artificial lighting and climate control, creating a more eco-friendly environment. The incorporation of skylights further reduces energy consumption by flooding the space with abundant natural light. Additionally, the rooftop solar panel system generates enough energy to power the building throughout the night, showcasing the building’s commitment to renewable energy and sustainability.”
